Here’s some information on our current position openings.
Inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start-up and collect data of low, medium and high voltage (to 500kV) electrical systems, and moderately complex relay calibration and power metering, including:
Perform maintenance and repair work on substation equipment.
Repair, replace and clean equipment and components including circuit breakers, brushes and commutators.
Schedule and supervise the construction and testing of special devices and the implementation of unique monitoring and control systems.
Analyze test data to diagnose malfunctions, to determine performance characteristics of systems, and to evaluate effects of systems notifications.
Frequently travel up to 35% to perform field work at customer’s industrial and commercial sites throughout the local and regional area.
Rotate emergency on-call duty and if called respond to customer emergencies in a timely manner
High school diploma or GED required; prefer an Associate’s degree from an accredited 2 year technical college in Electrical Power, or similar experience and training from the military.
Must have at least 5 or more years of relevant power systems testing & maintenance experience
Must have general PC skills including email, internet, data entry and Microsoft Excel; experience with PowerDB a plus.
Must be able to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures.
Prefer OSHA 30 hour, MSHA, NFPA 70-E, CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED training.
Perform installation, commissioning, testing and maintenance of protective relaying equipment, relaying schemes, DFR equipment, SCADA systems, distribution automation systems and associated communication equipment.
Perform function testing of substation control circuits on relay panel, transformers & circuit breaker changeouts.
Perform end-to-end relay testing using Doble Protest or RTS software to verify carrier and fiber systems. • Perform electro-mechanical relay testing of GE, Westinghouse, ITE, etc.
Perform solid state relay testing of Schweitzer, Basler, Multilin, SEL, Beckwith, Circuit Shield, Arreva, Schneider, etc.
Read and interpret control prints, writing diagrams, and relaying schematics. • Conduct differential and distance relay testing.
Assist in developing written standard commissioning, testing and maintenance procedures for protective relaying.
Manage projects onsite throughout the duration and effectively interface and own the relationship with customers and their vendors.
Must be willing and able to travel overnight 35%+.
High School Diploma or equivalent; prefer training from technical school, apprenticeship, armed services or Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology.
5 years related experience in the areas of transmission line and substation protective relay control system and SCADA/Automation checkout, installation, testing and trouble-shooting; an equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
Must have testing skills and understand fundamental electrical testing procedures. • Need to have knowledge of differential and phase angles.
Experience with RTS or Protest relaying testing software desirable.
Understand three phase power and phase angles.
Must have ability to use Doble 6150, 2253 & 2250 and Megger MPRT & Omnicron.
Must be able to demonstrate SAFE electrical troubleshooting skills using basic and advanced test equipment.
